Almost a couple of weeks ago now, Jaelyn had her four baby eye teeth pulled. The orthodontist had told her that the teeth needed to come out, but we being her parents and knowing that she can get herself worked up about new situations (don't we all do this?), didn't tell her when until about a half an hour before her appointment. She was nervous, had a moment of fear but willingly took a before picture as she got into the car and was being a better trooper than I am when I just have to go to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned (which is also why Daddy is an amazing Dad who takes his kids to the dentist by himself). 
After the first dose of "sleepy-juice" Jaelyn knew that she was going to have to be brave and tough. She had a breakdown moment, where the dentist gave her the option only do a couple of the teeth. But, Jaelyn let herself have her moment, gathered herself back up and told the dentist that she didn't want to have to do it again, so to get it all done.
How amazing is she! I am so proud of her for not letting the fear and pain get to her! She could have let the fear taken over and had a meltdown or just have done the bare minimum of that day and put the others off for a later date. But no, she acknowledged what she was feeling and let herself have her moment, then, she faced it and got if over and done with and had an amazing attitude about the whole thing.

Her mouth ended up being completely numb until bedtime so she ended up not having any dinner at all. That night though she told me that she thought that she deserved something a little better than Dairy Queen or a Frosty from Wendy's.

This precious girl wanted Cold Stone! Made me laugh. And being a Mommy who's greatest fear is the dentist, I couldn't have agreed more. So, the next night, she had ice cream for dinner. But not just any ice cream, Cold Stone chocolate cake batter ice cream with rainbow sprinkles.
And it was good!
