September

September brought schedule and routine back into the Friberg household, well, except for one week, but we'll get back to that later.

Jaelyn and mommy got to have a girls day to get her ready for school. She got a new hair-do and loves now to style it herself. She can be quite creative. There is a part of me that tugs to "help" her perfect the style, but the other part of me knows that it would squelch her heart to have me "fix" what she sees as already perfect. It has been another great lesson in learning that the impact I'm having on her heart is more important than how she appears to others. I'm sure that there will come a day when she will be embarrassed that I let her out of the house with her hair like it is some days. I also have come to know that she probably won't understand why until she has kids of her own.

Jaelyn is now a big first grader. She was excited to go back and has enjoyed being back to a routine and getting to be the big independent girl that she is. First grade has been a little more taxing on her, but hopefully it will all be better as the newness wears off and different expectations of what the year will be are made.

Jaelyn also made a big decision this year to put dance on hold and try out soccer. Jaelyn loves dance, so this was a huge deal. She has been learning the game and having fun. At her first game, she scored the first goal of the game and was so excited! Now we just need to teach her that it isn't mean to take the ball away from the other team.
